HEALTHCARE
THE OPPORTUNITY TO LIVE A HEALTHY AND HAPPY LIFE IS A RIGHT WE BELIEVE IN.
International Esperanza Project provides high quality medical care to those who otherwise would have no access. Teams of passionate medical volunteers from all over the world travel to Chimaltenango throughout the year to set up one-week clinics and surgical centers. Each clinic team attends to hundreds of patients, and surgical teams perform life-changing surgeries. Additionally, IEP’s in-country staff works to educate local populations about health and nutrition, giving those in remote and under-resourced communities the preventative tools they need to stay healthy.
CLINICAL TEAMS
IEP clinical teams include internists, pediatricians, dermatologists, pulmonologists and psychologists–as well as dentists, physical therapists and pharmacists. These teams set up one week clinics in the beautiful facilities at FUDI Aq’on Jay in Chimaltenango, where people from across the region can easily commute.
SURGICAL TEAMS
Living without reliable healthcare and little in the way of preventative medicine can lead to severe–and sometimes life-threatening complications. IEP surgical teams include surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and surgical technicians. They perform world-class, specialized procedures at no cost to those in need. IEP works in Hospital Corpus Christi in Patzún, Chimaltenango.
ONGOING MEDICAL PROGRAMS
IEP’s Guatemalan staff is in constant communication with the local medical community and works to connect patients in need with volunteer medical professionals in Guatemala, year-round. IEP supports local hospitals and clinics by providing much needed supplies and equipment, as well as by working to educate communities to safeguard their health through hygiene and nutrition.
