COLLABORATION AT IEP IS BUILT ON COMPASSION AND COMMITMENT.

With staff in both the United States and in Guatemala, IEP coordinates a multitude of moving parts on a daily basis, from donors to volunteers to medical supplies to grant applications–and all across multiple languages and cultures. Most importantly, our team includes the people we serve, because only with their involvement is a better future possible.

CHARLIE VeLEZ

DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

With a background in engineering and a DIY attitude, Charlie’s been contributing his unique assets to different social causes since he was teenager. One day in 2017, IEP asked him to help out their volunteer “McGyver” group, a problem-solving construction crew, and that day quickly turned into a whole week. The next couple of years saw Charlie become one of IEP’s most invaluable volunteers, and soon he was asked to take charge of IEP’s Community Development trips. When not working, Charlie loves to help out on his family’s coffee farm.

CONI SIPAC

Coni Sipac found her way to IEP through her husband Fredi, the head teacher at the IEP-sponsored El Molino School. She first worked as a volunteer translator with community development teams, but as of January 1, 2020, Coni is employed full-time as IEP's "Leader of Community Development".

A veritable powerhouse, Coni is seen as a capable leader and organizer throughout the Chimaltenango region and she commands an inexhaustible store of energy with which to get things done.
