IEP is expanding its impact on the lives of Guatemalans in need with the construction of a new purpose-built facility, the Esperanza Center, on land adjacent to IEP ́s El Molino School. This state-of-the-art campus will provide facilities for both vocational training and medical, dental and surgical care.

Progress at the construction site of the Esperanza Center is really starting to show. IEP is undertaking this new initiative to provide much needed vocational training and healthcare services to people in the area.

The Esperanza Center will be comprised of four modules. The Salka Culinary Institute will occupy one module, training local people in the various skills that are very much in demand by restaurants in the area. Two other modules will house classrooms where trades such as carpentry, welding and sewing will be taught.

The fourth module of the Esperanza Center will be dedicated to healthcare, providing both regular clinical and dental care as well as surgical interventions. The Esperanza Center healthcare module will contain a dental treatment center, an eye clinic, multiple medical exam rooms, and a fully equipped operating room dedicated to cataract and other eye surgeries.
