In a normal year, community development and healthcare teams leave regularly from the spring through the winter, and you could be part of one. All you need is enthusiasm, compassion, and the willingness to put in a day’s work for someone else’s benefit.
We have three types of teams:
• Community Development: IEP Community Infrastructure teams install smoke-free stoves and water filters in the homes of impoverished families in the Chimaltenango region.
• Clinical Teams: IEP clinical teams include internists, pediatricians, dermatologists, pulmonologists and psychologists–as well as dentists, nurses, physical therapists and pharmacists. The teams set up one-week clinics.
• Surgical Teams: IEP surgical teams include surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and surgical technicians. They perform world-class, specialized procedures at no cost to those in need.
The cost per person for our humanitarian missions is $1,700* based on double occupancy + $300 per person as a “mission fee” - which accounts for a stove and water filter or for supplies for the clinic. This price covers travel insurance, transportation, all hotels, and all but two meals. *Airfare is not included.
